I’m so happy to share with you the new and improved Zip & Clip Bag pattern that’s now available for you (check out the sale information at the bottom of this post)! This pattern was originally launched in 2014 and is one of my all-time favorite bags that I have used time and again. It has been a popular item and when my paper stock ran low, it was time to take advantage of a chance to give it a few tweaks and updates. The pattern now includes improved labeling throughout the pattern and improved instructions and labeling on photos to make it even easier to use.
The Zip & Clip Bag is a small but mighty bag, and it holds so much more than you’d imagine. Its features include a front slip pocket for a phone that fits most phones (up to 6-1/2″ tall) and a front zip pocket.
Inside are credit card slots enclosed inside a zip pocket so you can rest assured your credit cards are safe when you are traveling. A second interior pocket on the front interior pocket is sized perfectly for a passport.
The Zip & Clip Bag can also be converted into a waist bag, as shown here:
I had the pattern re-tested to make sure everything looks great and it gives you a chance to see some really fun bags made by some amazingly helpful and ever so talented bag makers! I hope their creativity will be as inspiring to you as it is to me!
I love how Cara got creative with the front flap – she did an awesome job of featuring this pretty print. Notice also that she changed up the fabric underneath the flap to create some additional contrast. Beautiful!
Pat made her Zip & Clip Bag to match her Tango Tote! How cool is that!?! They make a great matched set and Pat’s Zip & Clip is beautifully made.
Mary Jo added some fun additional features to her Zip & Clip Bag. Check out the stripe on the front flap and the pen pocket on the side! What great ideas – so creative and the result is awesome!
Here’s a close-up of the pen pocket:
Melissa changed up the fabrics a bit too for a version that could be dressed up or down. Love the combination!
Daryl added a wider strap to hers so you can see what that looks like and check out her tag on the front and the fun zipper pull she used on the front zip pocket. Such cool little details! She had a good close-up of the bag interior so you can get a good look at the interior zip pocket and passport pocket.
I love how the fabric and hardware choices dress up Tamra’s Zip & Clip Bag. Gorgeous! If you like to play with hardware, don’t miss her pictures below. They are beautiful!
Jenniffer’s awesome Zip & Clip with Canadian motifs is so cute! I love how changing the strap to a wider one gives this a more casual, rugged look. So cool!
So that’s it for the tester pictures! They did an amazing job – love every one of them!
I also wanted to note that I have SVG files for the front flap if you’re interested in doing a cutout on the front flap. There are 4 designs, shown below. The cut-out design is laid over an underlying layer that shows through. Applique as desired (I did raw-edge stitching on mine). If you’re interested, the SVG files are available in the shop as well.
The Zip and Clip Bag is on sale 25% off now through Sunday, March 27th (midnight, CDT). No need for a coupon code – the sale price has already been applied! The sale applies to both the downloadable PDF and the paper version.
Hardware kits are available here.
Thanks for stopping by and happy sewing!
