Twice a year, E E Schenck opens its doors for a weekend trade show called “Trends” featuring speakers, open house and teaching sessions at its warehouse and facilities in Portland. Trends is a wholesale show, geared primarily toward quilt shops. If you are not familiar with E E Schenck, they are a large distributor of sewing and quilting products, including fabric, notions and patterns.
I am excited at the opportunity to be at the Trends show this coming September 12-14, 2014. I will have a booth and will be teaching at several “Take and Teach” sessions. I am going to be demo-ing and teaching on interfacing.
So much of bag-making is about the interfacing and choosing the right interfacing to create a particular style of bag. No abstract lectures here! Just like I can’t walk by fabric without touching it, these interfacing sessions will be very interactive.
Many of the attendees will bring a host of experience to the sessions, and it will be an excellent time to focus on how quilt shops can be a go-to place for bag-makers to increase their knowledge and skills in bag-making. I am so excited to be a part of this and am looking forward to getting my session together over the next few weeks!
