The next tote is very similar to the last one, not only because I like this style but because I do think the minor tweaks to a design make a difference. So, this time, I followed the same basic measurements as Tote #4 except I made the top panel 1″ higher and the bottom panel 1″ shorter to draw a little more attention to the main fabric.
Also, the handles are 1″ shorter and the bag has a much heavier interfacing, or rather interlining as it is an extra nonfusible layer.
I love Art Gallery fabrics and I had just enough of this fabric to make the tote, yay! Here’s a shot of the inside:
So, let’s see how that looks compared to last week!
I think I got it right with those measurements! The handle looks more in proportion and although I like both totes, I do favor the upper/lower band proportion in Tote #5.
What do you think?
Next up . . . finalize the pattern with these changes and get it tested. If you sign up for my newsletter this month (upper right side of website or on facebook) you can get this pattern free when it comes out (soon!). And don’t worry, I only send out good stuff and it’s about once a month.
Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much Linda! Bags are just a lot of fun to make, aren’t they? With the snow melting, I’m thinking spring totes!! 🙂 BTW, I don’t know if you are a newsletter subscriber but you can get the Essential Tote pattern free–just enter your email on the right sidebar before Mar. 23rd (and it will come by email the day after you sign up).
