Perfect for your favorite mug, soup bowl, Santa’s cookies and milk, and much more, these mug rugs are a great scrap-buster and an easy way to make a gift for a special teacher, coach, family member or friend.
The instructions for this silicone pattern kit feature 3 block styles — a 6-1/2″ (6″ finished) block, a 4-1/2″ block center or a 3-1/2″ square in a square. This allows you to fussy cut squares in the above sizes and feature them in the block next to the silicone. So much fun to find that special fabric motif to feature along side the silicone. The Snug as a Mug on a Rug pattern kit includes the instructions and 2 silicone pieces. The mug rugs finish at approximately 7″ x 11″. The Silicone Mug Rug Refill is available when you want to make more.
Let’s take a look at the tester mug rugs!
Daryl featured some yummy rasperries in the mug rug below and did applique for her second mug rug. Super cool!
Next up is Ramona’s flower block. Pretty!
And here’s Melissa’s awesome mug rugs. Getting into the holiday spirit!
And here are Mary Jo’s mug rugs. Love her Irish theme and her flower block!
Here we have Jessi’s Christmas festive mug rug:
Take a look at how Jessi quilted around the shapes in her fabric. Love it!
Next up are Cara’s festive mug rugs. So awesome!
Next are Joyce’s coordinated mug rugs. Cool to make a matched set.
And Jenniffer did a great job with her blocks. You can use any 6-1/2″ square. Maybe you have a leftover orphan block from a quilt or you want to try a block without sewing a whole quilt. The possibilities are endless!
Snug as a Mug on a Rug is now available and for the next couple days (now thru Sunday, November 7, midnight CST) you can get 25% off the retail price of this pattern kit and silicone mug rug refill with the coupon code NEWNEW.
I’m also releasing Hedgehog & Hare, another silicone kit now as well. Hedgehog and Hare and the silicone ring refill are also on sale now too. You can read more about Hedgehog & Hare on this blog post.
I forgot to mention there’s a bonus page in the pattern to make a mini mug rug without the extra 6″ block on the side. It looks like this:
And if you’re interested in getting some fussy-cutting acrylic rulers, I added a couple to the shop. It’s a 3-ruler set from Quilt in a Day. Doing fussy cutting can get kind of addicting and these rulers make it EASIER and more FUN by taking the guesswork out of it. If you don’t want to invest in the rulers, I did create paper fussy cutting templates and you can download them here.
I think that covers all the basic information. I’ve had a lot of fun with them, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
Happy sewing,
Lisa
