It is time for a new pattern, don’t you think? I am so excited to announce that the Nina Bag is here. I first designed this bag last November so it is definitely time for Nina to arrive! The downloadable PDF version is available now and the paper version is off to the printer today so it won’t be long for that version.
The Nina Bag pattern is very versatile. I got a little carried away with options on this one so there is something for everyone. The bag can be made with a top zipper closure or if you are a zipper-hater, lol, you can follow the variation for the magnetic snap version. There are two handle styles so you can make the handles either with or without hardware. Or purchased handles look great, too!
I have some wonderful pictures of the Nina Bag. For the first time, I did testing through a facebook group and these women did such a fabulous job. I’m so excited to show you all the beautiful bags they made. This bag really makes those cotton prints shine and so I can’t wait to show you each of these.
First up is Terry’s beautiful bag in a gorgeous chevron print! I just love how this bag turned out – she did a fabulous job of making it and the fabric is just gorgeous! Terry made the version with the handles without hardware. Go check out Terry’s blog – My Love is Homemade – she does beautiful work and her daughters are adorable!
And next up is Jessi’s bag featuring a beautiful flowered print. She did a lovely job and you can see the handles with the hardware and the zippered top. Such a beautifully sewn bag – so finished.
Jessi turned the bag inside out so you can see the pockets on the inside. Isn’t that a great idea? Love it. You can see the large pocket for a tablet or e-reader:
And the other side of the inside has a deep pocket and a subdivided pocket for a pen, phone and other small items:
Laura F made this adorable Nina Bag with purchased handle tabs. She made her own matching handles in that cute polka-dot fabric. I just love how this turned out. The bag looks so beautifully coordinated and very professional finished! Nice job, Laura! Go check out the adorable items for sale at Laura’s etsy shop, Posh Fox Boutique.
Jenniffer made this elegant blue and white version. She used vinyl on the bottom and it came together beautifully! This looks like it came right off the shelf at the store – only better! Just gorgeous.
Holly changed up the pattern a bit with this fun flap and extended handles. I love what she did. I really like the corduroy she used on the bag. It coordinates beautifully with the taupe interior and handles and makes such a nice look!
Ingrid added extended handles on her bag too for this fun cross-body bag! I love the big, bold prints and she did a great job putting this together. So fun!
Laura K. put together this stunning flowered version with linen handles and lower bottom. She did a lovely job sewing it together and I love the linen!
Melle sewed together this beautiful version of the bag with a little wider handle. She certainly has an eye for fabric – I love how this fabric works on the bag. So pretty!
Irna did such a nice job on her Nina Bag with this beautiful flowered print and matching handles. I just love how that large flower floats across the bag – it was just meant to be there. Beautiful!
And, finally, one more that I sewed up with a magnetic snap and a handle without hardware:
So many sides to Nina! I love how the choice of fabrics changes the look of this bag. So, time for a Nina? It is now available in PDF format in my retail store.
Psst. Check out my facebook page for a discount code. I would of course love it if you would like Around the Bobbin and stay in touch with what’s happening over here and be the first to know about future patterns and discounts.

I live in the UK. Why am I not allowed to download your pattern? No shipping is involved as it is an e pattern
Lisa Amundson says
You definitely should be able to download the pattern! I know it worked fine for someone in Canada. I will double-check settings but please tell me more. Did you have a problem checking out?
Lisa Amundson says
I think I have this fixed now. If anyone has any trouble, please let me know.

Hello. I was wondering what fabric line the cover bag was made from (red, gray, white)? I just love this bag!

I fell in love with this collection too. It’s the Boy Meets Girl collection from Benartex (KANVAS division). It is a new collection that will be available at the end of August/early September 2014.
