As crafters and sewers, we know that there are a lot of things we can make that are much better than the products we can buy. I LOVE my Oliso Mini Iron with the silicone trivet. It’s handy for quilting and I can use it with my wool mat instead of hauling out my large ironing board. I wanted a case for it though, and the ones I found were expensive and didn’t have any heat resistance.
So, that’s the backstory behind the Mini Iron Storage Case. It has the fun shape of the mini iron, is roomy enough to hold the iron, the trivet and cord, and it provides heat resistance. The case also works for other brands of mini irons; the other brands I found were a little smaller than the Oliso Mini Iron.
When you sew this case, you use Insul-Bright on the inside layer and batting on the outside layer to create heat resistance. It’s still a good idea to let your iron cool for a minute or two just so you don’t scorch the interior fabric but no need to wait until it is cool!
