Announcing the new mitt design, the Hot Stuff Everyday Mitt! I’ve wanted to do this style of mitt for awhile and decided it was time! After deciding on colors, I placed a sample order, reviewed and tested the samples, then placed an order. After that, the mitts were manufactured, shipped to Seattle, then by train to Minneapolis and then we loaded them into our cars. Now . . . half a year later, here they are! Usually that process is about 3 months but lately everything has been much, much longer so I am excited to actually have these in hand and available. Woo hoo! I hope you like them as much as I do.
The Hot Stuff Everyday Mitt is available in Red, Green or Transparent. Refills are available for all 3 colors. Like the Hot Stuff Oven Mitt, the pattern kit comes with the instructions, templates and one silicone mitt overlay. To make more, you can get the refills in all 3 colors. The instructions and templates are the same for all 3 colors.
So how does this mitt compare to the original Hot Stuff Oven Mitt? Let’s take a look.
The Everyday Mitt (left above) is very similar to the original Hot Stuff Oven Mitt (right above), only shorter in total length. It has a shorter piece of silicone and a longer cuff. The original Hot Stuff Oven Mitt is more of a BBQ style mitt with the silicone extending down your wrist–that is especially helpful if you have to reach further into the oven or like more wrist protection.
With the longer cuff on the Everyday Mitt, you can feature a little more of that pretty quilting fabric, fussy-cut a cute fabric motif or have a little room to do some embroidery. I don’t have an embroidery sewing machine, but I can picture a lot of fun possibilities there!
And now there are colors 🙂
I had to hold back from ordering a ton of colors. So, to be practical, I went with two plus the transparent. I *might* need to add one more color. We’ll see!
These are made with the same great silicone offering protection up to 450 degrees fahrenheit and food-grade silicone so it’s no problem to touch your food with them if you hold a loaf of warm bread, accidentally stick a thumb in your pie (I’m not the only one, right?), or hold onto hot corn on the cob.
So here’s a closer look at the red mitt:
And the green (it’s got a little teal to it):
This blog post wouldn’t be complete without looking some awesome tester mitts! Let’s take a look.
I absolutely love this polka-dot cherry fabric Daryl paired with the red silicone. How cute is that!
And here is Jenniffer’s mitt – super cute polka dots!
And here is Jessi’s mitt, with the transparent silicone and a gorgeous flowered print. Love it.
Leigh Ann’s green mitt couldn’t match any closer to this beautiful 2-toned fabric:
Next, Melissa’s green mitt shows how you can pull out a little color to coordinate in the cuff. Awesome!
Love those Tula Pink bananas in Pat’s mitt – how cute!
I forgot to mention that there is hanging loop:
Next up is Ramona’s mitt. I really like this fabric for the cuff. Think of how much fun you could have coordinating that print with matching items for the kitchen – a little strip on a kitchen towel, potholders, the list goes on. . . .
