I am super excited to share my newest pattern, the Zip and Clip Bag! I have been working on this little bag since June and let me tell you I went through a pile of prototypes to make it really functional and easy to sew!
This bag is a Mini Cross-body bag, but don’t let it’s size fool you. It is very functional and the zippers are a snap.
Just the facts, m’am? Okay, here are the facts!
- It has an adjustable strap so you can have the bag hang exactly where you want it.
- It is about 7″ high and 6-1/2″ wide and 2″ deep.
- Under the flap are 2 pockets – a phone pocket and an easy (I mean easy!) zip pocket for cash or other items.
- Inside the purse are two pockets – one is an easy zip pocket with credit card slots inside! Yes, you zip open the pocket and inside are the credit card slots so you know they are nice and secure! The other pocket has a velcro’d flap and is sized to hold a passport if you are travelling or it can hold other small items.
- The swivel snap hooks are attached on the upper back and the d-rings are on the strap. Why you ask? So you can clip the bag into a bigger tote by adding d-rings inside a tote. Or clip it to a belt loop to function as a mini man-bag.
- The strap can also be cinched smaller to make it a waist pack.
Okay, on to the pictures from a wonderful group of testers! These ladies did an outstanding job of sewing up the bag in a very short time frame and giving it their own twist with their own style and taste! I just love all of these bags and they are all unique!
Stacey has a knack for putting beautiful fabrics together. I am super impressed with her work and her eye for color! Check out her review of the pattern and browse the wonderful sewing projects she has blogged about at from a box. I just love how these Joel Dewberry prints look on her bag!
Sam added this pretty butterfly embroidery motif on the front of her bag and used a contrasting fabric on the front which makes such a nice backdrop to the embroidery design.
Karen stitched her bag together with beautiful Anna Maria Horner fabric I love how these colors play together and she did such a great job fussy cutting that motif on the front. Beautiful work!
Stacy took the bold move of sewing hers with re-purposed suede and I love love love how this turned out. I think I need to hunt down some beautiful suede to do this because I really like the finished look of the suede. The rhinestones are a lovely added touch. For more of Stacy’s gorgeous sewing projects (and a lot more), check out her blog, the land of k a.
Laura upcycled a flight suite and added a funky patch to her Zip & Clip Bag for this cool military style look. I think that seam going down the front is a really nice touch and a great idea to spice up any solids, even if you aren’t upcycling! Nice work Laura!
The second shot of her bag really shows off the interior zip pocket securing the credit card slots. I’m really excited about this feature of the bag. I have been using my Zip and Clip Bag for months and love how it holds enough so that a small bag really can be used as an everyday bag.
Melle made her bag with a bright, fun splash of color and it makes me smile at how cheerful it is. She cut that front flap just beautifully and it so pretty!
Bernice added this pretty medallion embroidery motif on the front as well. I especially like how she added contrasting light blue fabric behind the hearts to make the design pop. Really great work Bernice!
Jenniffer sewed up her Zip and Clip Bag in these fun fall prints from a variety of manufacturers. What a perfect combination for fall!
Jessi upcycled a previous purse and used gray upholstery weight canvas for this fun take on the pattern. You’ll see she added her own look on the front with the angled bottom corners and the added zipper. Very creative! I love the knit-look cotton print on the interior too.
So there you have it! Wow, I am in awe of these ladies and all their creativity. It was so fun to see what they chose for fabrics and materials and there were lots of fun creative surprises this time around.
The Zip & Clip Bag pattern is now available as a downloadable PDF on my store and it will be in quilt shops and craftsy very soon!
Also, I will post out soon about the hardware kits for sale for this bag and the .SVG downloadable files if you want to customize your bag with a cut-out design using a Silhouette Cameo. Stay tuned!
